Now u can Transfer ur money vi ur cellphone

Tata Indicom, in association with Corporation Bank and PayMate, has launched 'Green Money Transfer'- a person-to-person mobile money transfer service. The transfer of funds via mobile will be facilitated by PayMate's technology, Corporation Bank's banking system and Tata's PCO and True Value Shop (TVS) network.

Customers can register for this service at a Green TATA PCO, TVS or with Corporation Bank. Upon registration, they will receive an mPIN to enable them to authorise the transaction.

Example:

1. A sender in Mumbai goes to a Green Tata PCO or TVS and places a request of transferring Rs. 5,000 to his parents in Pune
2. The sender hands over the cash to the Green Tata PCO or TVS. The PCO or TVS triggers an IVR call to the sender
3. The sender enters his mPIN to authorize the transaction and gets a Transaction code on his mobile to be conveyed to the recipient.
4. The recipient goes to the nearest registered Tata PCO or TVS and shares the transaction code.
5. The PCO or TVS triggers an IVR call to the receiver who enters his/her mPIN to verify the transaction
6. Once the verification is done the cash is handed over to recipient

The companies say Green Money transfer service is primarily targeted at the un-banked population of the country by providing them a branchless
banking service to send and receive money effortlessly.

Corporation Bank says this facility is being proposed as an additional service to the rural masses who can now receive remittance in their Bank account instantaneously and draw through Business Correspondents at their own place. This will enable the Bank to augment customer acquisition as well.

This facility has been launched on a pilot basis in Kerala and will later spread to other areas.

Latest Xtreme Router by D-Link's Shows Pictures

A mere nine months after being announced at CES 2009 in Las Vegas, D-Link is today shipping the Xtreme N Storage router (model DIR-685), probably the first router to incorporate a digital photo frame on the front.

It's only a 3.2-inch color LCD, and not the first router to have a screen, but it is the first that's going to be powered by FrameChannel (which aggregates images from your Flickr, Picasa and Facebook accounts) to display not just pictures but also streaming digital video. The screen will also display the status of the router, Internet connection, and the weather.

A 2.5-inch, 1-terabyte external drive can plug into the side and make the 685 into instant network attached storage (NAS), which can be used to automatically store downloads from BitTorrent. It'll even do FTP file transfers. Or you can plug USB external drives into either of the ports on the router. Or plug in printers or scanners to share them across the network. Plus integrates D-Link's Green tech to use less energy.

What about the actual router part? It's a Wi-Fi Certified, single-band (2.4GHz) 802.11n access point coupled with a four-port Gigabit switch, the usual NAT/SPI firewalls, and Wi-Fi Protected Setup button. It won't come cheap to watch pics or video on a routers, as the 685 costs $299.99 list, but is already selling at Amazon for $249.88.

No. 2 Mobile OS Will be Android (Analyst: Android to become #2 mobile OS by 2012)

According to Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney, Google’s fledgling Android OS has the potential to become the number two mobile operating system (behind Symbian OS) by 2012.

This certainly sounds like a bit of a stretch considering that currently Android is operating on less than 2% of the world’s smartphones. However, in a recent interview with Computerworld, Dulaney said that he sees Google’s open mobile platform expanding to upwards of 14% market penetration over the next 24 months.

gartner-091008

He supports his claim by citing the fact that some 40 new Android-powered devices are expected to be launched over the next year alone.

“Android rises to number two simply because, unlike Apple, they license their OS to multiple OEMs,” Dulaney said. “They have the number 2 OEM, Samsung, and strong players like LG, Motorola, HTC and now Dell. There are others in the works.”

Combine all the new handsets with the enormous draw that Google itself brings to the table, not to mention the anticipated release of Android 2.0, and the fact that Android is open source and has slowly but surely become more attractive to developers, and Dulaney may be on to something here.

Checkout future technology in coming cells in market

There’s a lot that going on right now in the Mobile world. Nokia World and IFA had some pretty interesting things to showcase in terms of future technology and what to expect. So here’s the latest list on what we can hope to see soon in terms of mobile tech.

Nokia N900
At the top of the list is Nokia’s new mobile computing solution - the N900. This is not like the N800 Series tablets that we’ve seen before. The N900 somehow manages to take things in a new direction. The company has decided to go with an open source Linux-based platform called Maemo. Its ARM Cortex-A8 processor should make it quite a speedy device and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration should really make the visual experience pop.

The Nokia N900 will feature –
- a 3.5-inch touch-sensitive widescreen display with an 800 × 480 pixel resolution
- Slide-out QWERTY keyboard and on-screen virtual keyboard as well
- 3G (HSDPA, HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (Micro)
- Integrated GPS with A-GPS support (Ovi Maps preloaded)
- Maemo browser powered by Mozilla technology and Adobe Flash9.4 support
- 32GB of storage, which is expandable up to 48GB via a microSD card
- 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera (Carl Zeiss optics and a Tessar lens) with a Dual LED flash
- Video playback includes XviD support (FINALLY)
- Built-in FM transmitter and radio

LG BL40 Chocolate
LG’s latest in their previous popular chocolate series is the new uber sleek BL40. It’s a large handset with extreme widescreen capabilities. LG has gone with a slightly varied version of their S-Class UI that features multitouch. It appears to be quite a feature rich fashion phone that has a lot to offer users looking for multimedia provisions as well as good looks.

The long and slim (sorry, but there’s no other way to describe it) BL40 comes with -
- a 4.01-inch touchscreen with a widescreen resolution of 345 x 800 pixels
- 3G (HSDPA), EDGE/GPRS
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (Micro)
- Integrated GPS with A-GPS support
- 1GB of storage, which is expandable via a microSD cards
- 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera (Schneider-Kreuznach optics) with an LED flash
- DivX and XviD video support
- Built-in FM transmitter and radio
- Dolby Mobile sound engine

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2
SE’s Xperia 2 or X2, is definitely a better looking version that the previous. It has a slightly more refined and sleeker look, especially draped in black. Hopefully the QWERTY keypad will prove to be a little more comfortable as well. The layout of the handset does seem a little better as well especially with the larger optical trackpad for navigation. This upgrade will be released with Windows Mobile 6.5 (Professional) so we’re looking at a better looking UI as well.

Other features that the X2 will have will include -
- a 3.2-inch touchscreen with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
- Slide out QWERTY keyboard and Optical trackpad
- 3G (HSDPA, HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (Micro)
- Integrated GPS with A-GPS support
- microSD card support
- 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
- 8 megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash
- XviD video support

Samsung Corby
Samsung’s Corby is a cute little handset that is slated to be in the low end touchscreen category. In fact the approximate pricing is about Rs. 10,000 (non-confirmed) which could easily make it one of the cheapest. The TouchWiz UI’s themes are light and colorful just like the handset itself. It has replaceable rear panels and honestly it seems like it’s directed at the female of our species considering the variety of the colors themselves. This is the cheapest handset on the list but it’s something that a market like ours can really look forward to.

The handset will feature -
- a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a 240 × 320 pixel resolution and 256K colors
- EDGE/GPRS
- Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP
- MicroSD card support
- 2 megapixel camera
- FM radio

HTC Tattoo
In the Android Section, HTC is still the leader in terms of handsets, with a new model being announced on what seems to be a monthly basis. Their latest is the Tattoo, so called because of the interchangeable and customizable panels. The Tattoo is also being marketed as a lower end Android handset directed at the younger segment simply because of this customization option. It’s not going give the Corby a run for its money but for those looking to experience a new OS and the new HTC Sense UI, the Tattoo Android powered handset should fit the bill.

The handset will also feature -
- a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a 240 × 320 pixel resolution and 65K colors
- 3G support EDGE/GPRS
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (mini)
- GPS with A-GPS support
- 3.5mm handsfree socket
- MicroSD card support
- 3 megapixel camera
- FM radio

Motorola CLIQ
It seems like Motorola has risen from the ashes with the announcement of their first Android powered handset the MOTOBLUR. The handset is going to be marketed with today’s fad, Social Networking, as its key element with features that will allow users to always be connected and sync information between their favorite Social Networking sources like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail et al. This feature is what the company is calling MOTOBLUR.

This touchscreen handset also features –
- a 3.1-inch touchscreen with resolution of 320 x 480 pixels
- Slide out QWERTY keyboard
- 3G, EDGE/GPRS
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (Micro)
- Integrated GPS with A-GPS support
- microSD card support
- 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash

There’s plenty more that we can expect to see soon, as mobile technology is only getting better with time. I can say much for the designs of some handsets but this sentiment may not be shared with everyone. To each his own. At least we can be assured that there will be something for everyone and that manufacturers have decided that not everyone has the monetary capacity to pay for what they claim to be the best they can offer. So we can finally look forward to seeing some pretty good handsets in the mid range segment equipped with enough features to keep most users satisfied.

Coming soon Samsung's New 12MP camera phone

we were talking about Samsung’s latest 12MP camera phone the SCH-W880 that’s been fitted with a 3X optical zoom lens. More news today says that it’s going to be around the South Korean market for awhile in a CDMA state.

The handset features -
  • 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display (capacitive)
  • 3G capabilities
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth, USB (micro)
  • 4GB internal memory with microSD card support
The camera is of course the central feature of this handset. It also allows for HD video recording (720p at 30fps). The camera will come with variable aperture settings a Xenon as well as an LED flash. Aside form this being the first ever 12MP camera phone with optical zoom functionality the fact that it records video at the resolution it does is also a first. It seems like it's even designed to look and feel like a digicam with a dial selector for various modes placed on one side.

The European version of the same handset with maybe a few adjustments here and there to suit the crowd will be called the M8920. No word on availability yet.

How cute LG Annouces 'Pop', Compact Full Touchscreen Mobile

LG has just unveiled the LG GD510, or more simply, Pop what they’re calling the most compact 3-inch full touchscreen phone ever made. The LG GD510 is the handset people who want a simple touchscreen phone have been waiting for. LG has designed the handset to include the key features that most users crave without the overhead of features they didn’t use.

“We gave the LG GD510 an optimized feature set which allowed us to concentrate on making the phone more compact and simpler to use,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our high-end phones like the Black Label Series New LG Chocolate (LG BL40) may be getting all the attention but there’s a gap in the market for affordable touchscreen phones that we want to fill. The LG GD510 delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia
and entertainment and comes in a compact form factor as well.”

The handset’s feature set includes:
  • 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen that extends almost to the edges with a narrow 4.8 mm bezel giving the illusion of an uninterrupted sheet of glass
  • 3G ready with EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
  • FM radio
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • 8GB internal memory
The unit’s sleek design is accented by a single button on the face that functions as the menu, end and cancel keys, depending on the phone’s mode. A slim strip of light around the button shines either green or red to indicate the handset’s function. The LG GD510 is crafted from brushed aluminum which gives it that high-end sort of look. Though there's nothing officially mentioned in the press release, a couple of the press images show the handset with a solar panel battery cover. Interesting!

LG GD510 will be available beginning in mid-October in Europe, followed by other markets. Prices will vary country-to-country and will be announced at a later date so stay tuned.

Now Is it Time to Bid Goodbye to VoIP?

IB has instructed the Ministry of Communications to block all Internet telephony services

Just as the Department of Telecom, or DoT, has taken a call to bury IMEI-less handsets that could play into the hands of terrorists, reports suggest that your untraceable Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP services may not live very long too.

Reportedly, India's Intelligence Bureau (IB) has instructed the Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology to block all Internet telephony services in and out of India till DoT can devise a method to track such calls.

According to the
report, "In the absence of Caller Line Identification (CLI) parameters of calls landing from abroad, it's next to impossible to identify the country of location of the caller. The calls passing through the VoIP/IP route contain inadequate parameters rendering it impossible to trace the actual callers. As DoT had conveyed that it is not possible to mandate transmission of CLI from abroad, IB has approached DoT to block such calls till a technical solution is found."

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommended the lifting of restrictions on
Internet telephony in the country in August 2008.

As per TRAI, there are around 34 companies providing VoIP services in the country. If the block is implemented, it is likely to disrupt the habits and businesses of many.

Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition-The fastest desktop processor in the world!

The Core i7-975 Extreme is Intel’s new speed demon that has set a new benchmark in the desktop computing space. Clocked at 3.33 GHz, this CPU is a notch higher than the former most powerful model, the Core i7-965, thanks to a bumped up multiplier (from x24 to x25). Intel has also applied a few minor tweaks which include improved thermals and better memory overclocking.

When installed the CPU on the Intel DX58SO along with 4 GB DDR3-1066 RAM and threw a couple of rigorous tests at it. It encoded a one minute MPEG video to x.264 format in 13 seconds which is just 3 seconds faster than the Core i7-965. To give you an idea about its immense processing power — it’s twice as fast as the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400!

Extremely demanding applications such as 3D modeling, imaging, page layout, and video editing will make best use of this processor’s immense potential—ideal for heavy-duty workstations. But it hardly impacts gaming performance. Go in for this CPU at Rs. 59,940 if you’re ready to spend another Rs 25,000 for a decent X58 motherboard and 6 GB DDR3 RAM.

Package type: LGA 1366; Speed: 3.33 GHz; Cores: 4; Fab process: 45 nm; L3 cache: 8 MB.

Samsung intros 640GB S2 and 2TB S3 external hard drives

Hard disks serve various purposes today and just as Terabyte highly makes its presence felt, Samsung prepares to launch two new editions to its S series external hard drive lineup. Here’s introducing the 3.5-inch 2TB S3 Station and the 640GB 2.5-inch S2 portable.

The portable lineup previously was available only in capacities up to 500GB but now the latest S2 640 GB drive has changed the situation. This drive has the capability to hold data equivalent to 128,000 digital images, 160,000 MP3 music files, or 77 hours of high definition movies. Thus now Samsung’s portable hard drive range offers 2.5-inch drives spanning from 160GB to 640GB densities.

“As consumer demands continue to escalate for storing personal data,

Unique ID No. Could Be Mobile No. Too-As a solution to the already exhausting 10 digit mobile numbers

With the current 10 digit mobile number collection likely to be exhausted soon, C-DoT, the R&D organization of the telecom sector, is considering if the Unique Identity Number (UID) could be used as mobile number.
The UID Authority set up by the government under the chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani has been assigned the task of issuing unique identity number for every citizen of the country.

With over 1 crore mobile subscribers being added every month and the all-India mobile subscribers base crossing the 44-crore mark, the current 10 digit numbers are likely to get exhausted very soon.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) is planning to come up with 11-12-digit number, but doubts are raised whether this step would contain the demand.

"What we have thought is why not have one unique number associated with the person like the social security number in the US or the UID. So that unique number we can use for the purpose of mobile communications also," P V Acharya, executive director, C-DoT, told reporters.

The government is hoping to rework the current numbering plan and is already debating with the telecom regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), whether 11-12 digit numbers could be offered. However, the cost and technology are a major consideration here.

The present numbering plan was framed in 2003 to serve estimated 75 crore subscribers until 2030. However, the booming Indian telecom sector is likely to reach 75 crore mobile users much before that as currently India's mobile subscriber base is 44.16 crore.
It is believed that both the government and the industry are looking at a numbering framework that will cause minimum disturbance to existing mobile phone users.

Motorola to Test 4G in India

Yes, you read it right

What? 4G, In India? We have had a torrid time implementing the 3G spectrum and license and now that first of the 3G Services have started trickling in, Motorola wants to do a trial run of 4G in India!

And they seem to be extremely optimistic about it. According to
reports, the company will soon approach the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for a trial spectrum allotment for testing LTE (Long Term Evolution) services in India. Now, the worrying thing about this is that the implementation of 4G will shed water on the Government's plan to raise Rs.35,000 crore by selling spectrum for 3G Services. Looks like we'll soon see some interesting developments on this front in the near future.

As for LTE, we can expect insane data speeds of up to 70Mbits/s with this one. We don't have those kinds of speeds even on our broadband networks today. Too much too soon? Only time will tell.

Break free from the usual pulse of one minute

Here is some good news for Tata Teleservices users. You can now avail a fixed charge on a per-call basis - at Re. 1 for all local calls and Rs. 3 for STD calls - regardless of the duration of the call.

Under the newly launched Pay Per Call service, users can break free from the usual pulse of one minute.
This plan will be made available to the company s CDMA service Tata Indicom to any mobile phone or land line connection, on any network.

SMS will be offered at a special price of 50 paise for both national and local messages. Initially, the Pay Per Call concept is being offered to prepaid customers only, with a daily fee of Re. 1. New Tata Indicom customers can avail the tariff option by default, while existing Tata Indicom customers can opt for the same with a one-time recharge of Rs. 96.

Ray T60: Dual SIM Touchscreen Phone

After the Ray T65 a couple months ago, we now have another phone from Ray, the T60. Let me remind you that Ray is a Chinese brand that has been brought to India by Mobile Store. Unlike other Chinese phones, Ray phones are of much better quality and have an IMEI number among other things to verify their authenticity. Moreover, they are backed by Mobile Store with a one-year warranty and the promise to attend to them should they ever have any technical problems.

Now coming back to our phone, it is a dual SIM phone but also has a large touchscreen encased in an attractive steel casing. Then there is also an accelerometer and a 2 Megapixel camera along with Bluetooth connectivity and expandable memory. Will it manage to impress us the same way the T65 did? Read on to find out.

Digital Hourglass

Here’s an evolution from old to new technology, an hour glass newly designed and fully functional. As an alternative of sand gradually leaking to the other half replaced with LED lights. It works well as a kitchen timer, but it doesn’t end there, it would be a fascinating thing to have sitting out in any room. It might be hard to discover precisely how much time you have left before it’s done. Thus, it would still give the impression of being great while counting down.

There has been other stuff alike to this, not fairly as stylish as this one, but comparable ideas. This was designed by Young Bok Kim and miserably is still a perception design. Even though possible and even if it weren’t, it would be bizarre of the regular price range. If you’re seeking for a reasonably priced version and merchandise you’re actually able to acquire you could check out the Digital Hour Glass Timer and bid for it. It’s not relatively as nice-looking as this design, but it could surge you over till the real McCoy arrive.

MSI G41 series motherboards launched

MSI has integrated Intel’s current multimedia platform - the Intel G41 chipset - into its new series of mainboards to meet this growing demand.

msi-g41-series-motherboards

The Intel G41 chipset sets a new standard for visual enhancement technology with DirectX 10 support, playback-enhancing decoders, integrated HDMI and DVI, cutting-edge multimedia equipment, and Intel’s own Clear Video technology.

The Intel G41 chipset’s integrated Intel GMA X4500 GPU, compared to its G31 predecessor, not only improves 3D performance, but also supports Direct X 10, OpenGL 2.0 and other graphical standards for total gaming support.

Additionally, the G41 chipset also supports faster hardware decoding, which decreases the loading on the CPU, and can run all current forms of HD movies.

The Intel G41 also equips Intel Clear Video technology which improves the playback quality and level of detail for a better home theater experience.

Another key feature of the G41 chipset is its total DirectX 10 support. All one needs is to install Windows Vista or Windows 7 OS to enjoy the most life-like gaming visuals around - a must for today’s HTPC.

Aside from the above benefits, MSI’s G41 series of motherboards also build upon years of research and development MSI put in to ensure its products are a cut above the rest.

APS intelligent power management, USB safeguard protection and M-Flash BIOS recovery are just some of the ways this series ensures a new level of convenience for customers.

NVIDIA rolls out world’s smallest and lowest power computer-on-a-chip

TAIPEI: NVIDIA has unveiled 12 new high-definition mobile Internet devices (MIDs) all powered by the NVIDIA Tegra processor, the world’s smallest and lowest power computer-on-a-chip.

nvidia-tegra-powers-12-mids-netbooks

These new Tegra-based devices, which include netbooks and tablets, deliver desktop-class Internet browsing with Flash video and animation acceleration, and up to 1080p video playback.

NVIDIA Tegra processors feature always-on operation for instant access to the Internet, which compares to that of cell phone-class power management, and up to 5x the battery life of current netbooks—making days of HD mobile Internet experiences a reality.

“The mobile computing revolution has arrived,” stated Michael Rayfield, general manager of mobile business at NVIDIA.

“These new Tegra-based products combine excellent Internet and media capabilities, always-on operation, and wireless connectivity for the un-tethered Internet experience consumers have been craving.”

“We’ve seen a groundswell of demand from consumers and telcos around the globe for a highly capable, low power, low cost netbook,” stated Mike Holland, vice president of business development, Mobinnova.

NVIDIA Tegra-based MIDs will support 3G, WiFi, and WiMax solutions from Motorola, Sierra Wireless modules based on Qualcomm, Icera, Via telesystems, and ST Ericsson to meet the needs of every carrier in every geography.

“Devices based on NVIDIA Tegra will allow us to offer a mobile Internet device that delivers an amazing level of functionality at minimal cost or even free through subsidies,” stated Antonio Domit, Executive Technology Advisor to America Movil, Grupo Carso, and Inbursa.
