Sony Ericsson's newXPERIA X2 "Windows phone" smartphone is about ready to take on the other full QWERTY messaging devices later this year with its slick sliding design. The XPERIA X2 features a 3.2” high resolution touch screen, a 8.1 megapixel camera/camcorder, and Real 3D panels with 3D effects and zoom, and music playback controls. XPERIA 2 has 14 specially designed preloaded XPERIA "panels" for multitasking, and 16 more to download from Skype, Mytopia and Google, to games, CNN and Windows Live. A unique SlideView feature on the device provides quick access to frequently used phone activities including contacts, messages, media and more.
XPERIA X2 supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 850/900/2100, and Sony Ericsson expects to ship the new smartphone with Windows 6.5 in selected markets from early Q4 in Elegant Black and Modern Silver colors. Pricing was not announced.
