Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition-The fastest desktop processor in the world!

The Core i7-975 Extreme is Intel’s new speed demon that has set a new benchmark in the desktop computing space. Clocked at 3.33 GHz, this CPU is a notch higher than the former most powerful model, the Core i7-965, thanks to a bumped up multiplier (from x24 to x25). Intel has also applied a few minor tweaks which include improved thermals and better memory overclocking.
When installed the CPU on the Intel DX58SO along with 4 GB DDR3-1066 RAM and threw a couple of rigorous tests at it. It encoded a one minute MPEG video to x.264 format in 13 seconds which is just 3 seconds faster than the Core i7-965. To give you an idea about its immense processing power — it’s twice as fast as the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400!
Extremely demanding applications such as 3D modeling, imaging, page layout, and video editing will make best use of this processor’s immense potential—ideal for heavy-duty workstations. But it hardly impacts gaming performance. Go in for this CPU at Rs. 59,940 if you’re ready to spend another Rs 25,000 for a decent X58 motherboard and 6 GB DDR3 RAM.
Package type: LGA 1366; Speed: 3.33 GHz; Cores: 4; Fab process: 45 nm; L3 cache: 8 MB.

Unique ID No. Could Be Mobile No. Too-As a solution to the already exhausting 10 digit mobile numbers

With the current 10 digit mobile number collection likely to be exhausted soon, C-DoT, the R&D organization of the telecom sector, is considering if the Unique Identity Number (UID) could be used as mobile number.
The UID Authority set up by the government under the chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani has been assigned the task of issuing unique identity number for every citizen of the country.
With over 1 crore mobile subscribers being added every month and the all-India mobile subscribers base crossing the 44-crore mark, the current 10 digit numbers are likely to get exhausted very soon.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) is planning to come up with 11-12-digit number, but doubts are raised whether this step would contain the demand.
"What we have thought is why not have one unique number associated with the person like the social security number in the US or the UID. So that unique number we can use for the purpose of mobile communications also," P V Acharya, executive director, C-DoT, told reporters.
The government is hoping to rework the current numbering plan and is already debating with the telecom regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), whether 11-12 digit numbers could be offered. However, the cost and technology are a major consideration here.
The present numbering plan was framed in 2003 to serve estimated 75 crore subscribers until 2030. However, the booming Indian telecom sector is likely to reach 75 crore mobile users much before that as currently India's mobile subscriber base is 44.16 crore.
It is believed that both the government and the industry are looking at a numbering framework that will cause minimum disturbance to existing mobile phone users.

Motorola to Test 4G in India

Yes, you read it right
What? 4G, In India? We have had a torrid time implementing the 3G spectrum and license and now that first of the 3G Services have started trickling in, Motorola wants to do a trial run of 4G in India!
And they seem to be extremely optimistic about it. According to reports, the company will soon approach the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for a trial spectrum allotment for testing LTE (Long Term Evolution) services in India. Now, the worrying thing about this is that the implementation of 4G will shed water on the Government's plan to raise Rs.35,000 crore by selling spectrum for 3G Services. Looks like we'll soon see some interesting developments on this front in the near future.
As for LTE, we can expect insane data speeds of up to 70Mbits/s with this one. We don't have those kinds of speeds even on our broadband networks today. Too much too soon? Only time will tell.
