Dual-drive 4TB External HDD from WD

Western Digital has introduced yet another fat storage 4TB external hard disk with dual-drive system for creative professional and Mac users. WD's new My Book Studio Edition II offers four interface options.



WD's new 4TB My Book Studio Edition II boasts of consuming 30 per cent less power than standard drives and functions quietly without any fan requirements. This drive is Mac formatted and is entirely compatible with Apple Time Machine software. WD packs special software and set of instructions to make it Windows compatible.

Currently priced at $649 (Rs. 31,200 approx.) at the company's site, this dual-drive supports RAID 0 configurations. Also the four interfaces make it friendly for creative professionals, enterprises, small office home office folks, and other storage hungry folks. Of the four interfaces, eSATA and FireWire 800 offer maximum performance along with USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 for flexibility.

WD's 4TB My Book Studio Edition II package also contains software with automatic and continuous backup functions. Also the capacity gauge makes it visible to user about the space available inside the drive. This external HDD can only be used with Windows Vista only as Windows XP doesn't support HDDs above 2TB.
